Madeira was honored with an APEX Award in the category of Writing - Editorial & Advocacy Writing for an article published on behalf of the American Heart Association in Tampa Bay. This is Madeira's sixth APEX Award since 2012.
The APEX Awards is an annual competition for corporate and nonprofit publishers, editors, writers and designers. With over 1,4000 entries in this year's competition, Madeira was selected among 556 Awards of Excellence recipients.
A communications plan developed for the State of California earned Madeira an APEX Award for Publication Excellence in the category of Campaigns, Programs & Plans - Public Service. Of the 1,361 entries submitted, only 543 received Awards of Excellence in this prestigious annual awards competition spanning 100 individual categories.
The panel of judges included John De Lellis, Concepts Editor and Publisher, Ken Turtoro, noted publishing and marketing executive, circulation consultant and senior APEX judge, Christine Turner, Contributing Editor to the Writing That Works Archives and Bill Londino, Consulting Editor of Writer's Web Watch.
The 22nd annual Communicator Awards honored Madeira with an Award of Distinction for a communication plan developed on behalf of the national headquarters office of The ALS Association aimed at growing the Ice Bucket Challenge into an annual fundraising and awareness building event.
With over 6,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.
The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 600+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
This marks Madeira's fourth Communicator Award since 2014.
The Hermes Creative Awards competition honored Madeira with two gold awards for its work on behalf of The ALS Association's Washington, DC headquarters office. A communication plan created to grow the Ice Bucket Challenge into an annual fundraising and awareness building event as well as a newsletter aimed at helping both patients and their family caregivers cope with the challenges of the disease were each awarded.
The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. The competition has grown into one of the largest of its kind in the world and includes entrants representing corporate marketing and communication departments; advertising agencies; PR firms; graphic design shops; production companies; web and digital creators; and freelancers.

Copy developed for The Association's quarterly ALS Insight newsletter in addition to a pro bono Web video highlighting the disproportionate number of veterans diagnosed with the disease were each recognized.

The judging panel includes executives from such prestigious organizations at Conde Nast, Disney, The Ellen Degeneres Show, MTV, Wired and Yahoo.
