Hurray! Facebook is making it easier to mobilize your followers around community issues. Facebook is now in the process of rolling out a new feature called Community Action. If you haven’t received an email yet, Facebook should soon be sending your page notification inviting you to try this new advocacy tool.

According to Facebook, here’s how it works:
1. Using the page you manage, you can create a community action around a local issue. When creating a community action, make sure you describe the issue, why it's important, and the difference you want to see in your community. During creation, you'll be asked to tag a local government representative who you think is best suited to drive a solution.
2. Once you've created your community action, you can invite your Page's followers, and others, to support it and share their perspective. A community action can be a place to share stories, gather support and offer solutions.
3. Once you have gathered support from at least 5 supporters, your community action will be sent to the government representative you selected. The government representative will be alerted through a notification on Facebook.
Currently, this feature is only open to select Facebook pages and is not a tool available to individual accounts.
