Did you know that Tampa Bay has the highest rate of osteoporosis-related bone fracture in the nation? Every seat in Raymond James Stadium, times two-and-a-half, equals the number of fractures that occur yearly in women 65 years and older in our community.
We’re working with our client, American Bone Health to convene a coalition of health advocates and community leaders to consider ways we may work together to improve bone health here in Tampa Bay. Already, we have representatives from the Tampa General Hospital, Empath Health, Florida Society of Rheumatology, and the Pinellas Fall Prevention Committee working with us on the endeavor, just to name a few.
If you’re interested in getting involved, the coalition meets next on April 22, 2020 at noon by video conference. An expertise in bone health is not required, just a passion for wellness and health equity!
To learn more about participating in the coalition, please send an email to heather@madeirapr.com.
