American Bone Health educators will cover topics including osteoporosis, exercise and bone health, and eating for healthy bones, always followed by a live Q&A.
Each 90-minute virtual sessions combines lecture, interactive participant activities, and lessons to personalize a bone health plan for you.
Stepping Out Strong - July 7, 2020
This 90-minute presentation will cover fall prevention. By the end of the program, participants will assess their balance confidence, test their balance with a single-leg stand, learn simple exercises to build into their daily routines to improve strength and balance, and leave with the knowledge of how to identify fall risks, exercises and a goal for improvement.
Freedom From Fractures - July 21, 2020
This 90-minute presentation will cover fracture risk. By the end of the program, participants will understand the factors that affect the risk of having a fracture in the next 10 years, will calculate their fracture risk, and have a take-home risk sheet outlining the next steps to reduce risk.
Eating for Healthy Bones - August 4, 2020
This 90-minute presentation will cover nutrition and bone health. By the end of the program, participants will understand their bone health nutritional requirements, how to get the nutrition from food, and will determine where their gaps are in dietary requirements.
Posture Power - September 15, 2020
This 90-minute presentation will cover posture and good body mechanics. By the end of the program, participants will understand the importance of posture and body mechanics in preventing fractures, learn how to assess their posture, learn simple exercises to build into their daily routines to improve posture, and leave with a worksheet of tips for safe movement exercises with a goal for improvement.
