St. Pete Fight Team Turns Communications Training Into Media Coverage

St. Pete Fight Team put its communications training into action by securing a television feature about its self-defense classes and work in the community.
Madeira Public Relations worked with the nonprofit through a grant from Hypatia Collaborative. The grant provided St. Pete Fight Team with training on how to develop a marketing and communications plan and generate media coverage for the organization.
As part of the training program, Madeira conducted market research and helped the team explore potential story angles. The goal was not simply to hand the organization a plan. We wanted its leaders to understand how to recognize a strong media opportunity and confidently pursue it themselves.
That work helped St. Pete Fight Team identify an opportunity to share its self-defense classes with viewers of 10 Tampa Bay’s Great Day Live. The resulting segment gave the organization a platform to demonstrate its work and introduce more people to its mission.
At Madeira, we value the opportunity to help nonprofits build their own communications capacity. Our training and coaching are designed to leave organizations with practical skills they can continue using long after an engagement ends.
We are thankful to Hypatia Collaborative for making this work possible and to St. Pete Fight Team for the opportunity to support its growth.
